We live in a time when words like “tradition” seem dated. Yet
for us, our tradition animates our present and informs our future. Ours is a tradition of love,
of service, of worship, and of hope. These are, to us, timeless values that we long to offer in
a world of rapid change and ambiguous convictions.

The Methodist tradition affirms the classic and historic
practices and beliefs of Christianity. We share with all Christians the call to serve God and
neighbor. We share a common sacred book and a common sacred meal that we call Holy Communion or
Holy Eucharist. Our faith journey begins at Baptism as it has for Christians since Jesus
himself.
