‘Not a cause...an emergency.’ It is estimated that a
child is orphaned by AIDS...every 14 seconds. Whole nations are being weakened by this
disease. We risk losing the next generation. We must
fight HIV/AIDS.” Several weeks ago, many of us heard Pastor Javier preach on the urgency of
fighting the HIV/AIDS pandemic, as a matter of faith and social policy. HIV/AIDS has already
taken over 25 million lives, and is the single most devastating epidemic in human history.
As people of faith, God calls us to help fight this disease, and to rebuild the lives and
communities that have been devastated by HIV/AIDS. This website, World Vision’s “Hope
Initiative”, is an excellent source for information regarding HIV/AIDS, including multimedia
presentations and an interactive AIDS quiz,; it also includes suggestions for making an impact
in our own communities, as well as the world community at large. World Vision’s “Hope
Initiative” takes a faith-based approach to fighting AIDS in Africa, where it is currently
most rampant. Hope’s many actions include distribution of food/supplies to AIDS widows and
orphans, promotion of understanding in communities that have been torn apart by HIV/AIDS,
education about prevention methods, and a sponsorship program for AIDS orphans.

Alternative look at living “The Way of Christ.” Do you
like magazine quizzes? This site features a “Spiritual Types Test.” Take it to find out if
you’re more like Mother Teresa or Martin Luther King, Jr. You can also create your own
“Sacred Space”, where you can record a in a private online journal and take some time to
connect with God. Check out the books in the MethodX store– some of them look really cool.
