Q Where is the church located?

A MUMC is a historic landmark located in the village of Mamaroneck at 546 East

Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck New York in the county of Westchester.  Easily accessible by car, bus or train, our church is a fine example of Gothic Revival architecture. The spire of our church rises high in the sky and is a beacon to anyone from the streets or the surrounding waters of the Long Island Sound, just a half hour northeast of Manhattan on the Long Island Sound.

Q Where do I park?

A On Sunday mornings, parking is available in the churchyard and at the Bank of New

York parking lot opposite the church on East Boston Post Road.  Curbside parking is also available on the streets.

Q What will the service be like?

A The 8:00AM service is a thirty minute service with sermon and Holy Communion celebrated each week.  It is a quiet, meditative service with no music.  Ancient prayers, canticles, sacred scripture and our holy meal are the focus of this service.

The 10:00AM service is a family worship service that blends the ancient with the new.  There is a wide range of music led by our adult and children’s choirs, featuring classical, traditional, and contemporary works.  A Children’s Moment takes place each week, as does the reading of scripture, sermon, and Holy Communion.  The 10:00 am service typically lasts one hour.  Please refer to our schedule of services for more information.

Q Is childcare available during the service?

A All children can attend the worship services with their parents but we provide a staff of three excellent caregivers awaits your children in the lower wing of the Education building each Sunday during our 10:00am worship service.  We are eager to welcome your child either to the Infant and Toddler Nursery for children ages 3-30 months or to our Preschool Room for children 30 months to five years.

This year we will also provide pagers for all of our parents during worship.  This system provides a discreet way to let parents know if their child should need them during the service.

Q Can I arrange for a baptism, wedding or funeral at your Church?

A Yes

A Baptism is the sign of entry into the Christian faith and community.  As a congregation we make vows to the individual baptized and those who sponsor him/her.  Thus baptism is the beginning of a relationship; it is not a Rite of Passage.  At MUMC we baptize the young children of members of our community, or those youth or adults who are seeking to enter the Christian life and family.  If this describes you, please contact one of our pastors or email the Church office to make arrangements.  Please note that baptisms always take place within the context of our worship services and that no private baptisms can be scheduled.

Weddings can be arranged at MUMC.  We would love to celebrate this day with you, and encourage you to contact the church office to make arrangements.  At least one of  the persons to be married should be a baptized Christian, and the couple should expect a Christian wedding ceremony to be conducted.  If you wish to arrange for clergy or musicians not on our staff to perform the ceremony, please speak with Sandy Morris in the church office.  Sandy will be happy to assist you with any questions concerning arrangements or fees.  You may email her at            office@mamaroneckumc.org

Funerals can also be arranged at MUMC.  Usually the funeral director contacts the office to make arrangements, but you may contact us directly as well.  Our staff is available to help you plan the funeral or memorial service, and is available for services in the Church, at the Funeral Home, a graveside or other suitable location.  Services conducted by our staff will be in keeping with the Christian tradition and music should be coordinated with the Director of Music.  Please contact the Church office for more information on arrangements and fees.
